Soul Mavericks Triumph in Olympic Opening Ceremony

Members of the Soul Mavericks have become a part of history by performing in the "Isles of Wonder" Olympic Opening Ceremony created by legendary film director Danny Boyle.

On Friday 27th July 2012, 80 000 people attended the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, London to mark the official opening of the London 2012 Olympic games and billions watched on television around the world. The SOUL MAVERICKS featured in the section entitled "Second Star To The Right, And Straight On Till Morning".

This part of the ceremony celebrated the achievements of the NHS and also paid homage to famous British children's authors. As Mike Oldfield played his well-known Tubular Bells and Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling read an excerpt from J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the Soul Mavericks appeared amongst a cast of breakdancing, tap dancing and acrobatic dementor characters. They filled the stage with their wild mischievous ways until Mary Poppins floated down form the sky to save the day!

The Soul Mavericks are honoured to have been part of such a spectacular show and to have received such positive reviews. They set London 2012 off to a flying start. Great job guys!
